CLARINET

The clarinet, right, is usually made of wood. There are several varieties in use, the most common being the soprano, pitched in B flat.

The bass clarinet, left, is also pitched in B flat, an octave below the soprano. It was developed in the mid 1800s by Adolphe Sax, inventor of the saxophone.
