ABOUT THE TMO

How to mark the dawning of a new Millennium in a fitting way? This topic caused much discussion worldwide and nowhere more vigorously than in Tipperary.

One idea, which seemed to have a chance of becoming a reality and making a positive contribution to the life of Tipperary, was the notion of developing an Orchestra composed entirely of young musicians.

So the Tipperary Millennium Orchestra was born. That was back in March 2000 and since that time a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm has been invested by many people - all our young musicians, their parents and families who ferried them to auditions and rehearsals in Clonmel and Thurles, the team of musical tutors who have guided the young people through rehearsal after rehearsal, supporting them, helping and encouraging them to bring out the very best in themselves. And the back room team who have helped with publicity, sponsorship and organising the many events which have taken place since March 2000.
